How we use AI in article summaries
Some articles on AVI carry a short summary at the top. This page explains how those summaries are made and checked. It covers the summary feature only.
What the summary is
The summary is a list of up to four short points. It restates the article and adds no new facts, opinions or numbers. It does not replace the article.
How it is made
An AI tool drafts each summary from the text of that article alone. It is not given other sources, and it is not asked to add context.
How it is checked
- A script compares every figure and every name in the summary with the article text. A summary that contains a figure or name the article does not contain is rejected.
- The script also enforces length limits and bars quotation marks in summaries.
- The editor reads each summary against the article and approves it before it is shown. A summary that is not approved is not shown.
How it is labelled
Every summary is labelled "AI-generated summary, reviewed by the editor." and links to this page. Summaries are not used in search results, page descriptions or audio.
Corrections
If a summary does not match its article, tell the editor through the contact form or at contact [at] asianvalueinvestor [dot] com. AVI will correct or remove the summary and, where the error was material, say so on the page.
